Hello again,

On Friday, we decided to go to an old mill to get some fresh ground spices. This is an old mill established in 1872 and still operating today. We picked up some spike, sunflower seeds, fresh flaked coconut and home-made granola. This is a good place for seasonings and spices. We stopped at a Wal-Mart and got some things we needed. We even found a Sonic Drive-In and got our favorite - Diet Cherry Limeade. We stopped at the Harry and David (headquarters) corporate store and got some BBQ sauce and some cheesecake.
We returned back to Arlan's home and checked in with our "girls" and discovered that Cuddles had broken out in hives and whelps. So, off to the local vet to have her checked out. Se has had a reaction before and got real sick. The vet told us that it appeared to be possibly a spider or bug bite. He gave her a antihistamine and cortisone shot to counteract the hives. It worked - within an hour, the whelps and hives had mostly disappeared. Got back to the RV and watched
her to make sure she didn't have a problem with the shots. She was OK and had no problem.
We settled in for the evening. Barbara and Darlene fixed a nice dinner of fresh green bean, Barbara's 7-cheese Mac & Cheese, and for dessert, cheesecake. After dinner, we played a new game (Cathy's company) of Likity.....a word game. Cathy's company is a board game company that the games are sold by home parties and is doing quite well. We had a good time and enjoyed the game. Here is a couple of pictures of the inside of the house - den and kitchen.
Saturday morning, we got up and looked out the window and saw some wild turkeys on the yard. The Mendell boys had made some turkey jerky from wild turkey and everyone was raving about it. But it was all gone. So, Arlan strapped on his pistol and went looking for them in the trees and bushes. He saw them but they had already gone down the hill and crossed the road (there should be a joke here about the turkey crossing the road). He didn't get any.
Today, we thought we might get to go to the lake and go out on the pontoon boat. However, the wind came up, with rain and Arlan decided to c
lean in case the weather improved. While we waited for the weather to improve, Barbara, Darlene and I headed to downtown Jacksonville and walked around looking at the stores, shopping and finally had lunch at a Tea Cafe. Good comfort sandwiches and soup. We arrived home and found the weather had turned cold, still windy and then the rain started. So, we retired to the RV and hence, my update to the blog.
Hope all is well with you.......still enjoying ourselves....
